Warmth rises from the concrete soil I stand on.
My feet are scorched, yet I cherish this pain.
A tranquil moment in the chaos of life.

I dive beneath the eternal waves,
where the sun breaks into an ocean of light.
A deep breath takes me further than a train ever has.
A deafening silence mutes the screams inside.
My chest pounds and aches, pushing blood through the limbs.
A dull pain in a familial embrace.

I lie wet on the steps of the church, their heat radiating inside my bones. As people pass by a single bell rings in unison with the crashing of the water.

I watched the summer fade behind the ruins we built.
